A semi-retired couple moved out of their traditional Brooklyn townhouse and into a landmark Richard Meier condo building overlooking Prospect Park.
The clients wanted a resurfacing of the 2,700-square-foot apartment, not to mention a totally new arrangement of the fine art and furniture they had collected over decades. A double-entrance layout allowed the remodeling to take place in two phases while the owners lived on site.

Many of the couple’s exceptional antiques made the move to this apartment, including a pair of Chinese horseshoe chairs and a Roman bench. These were refurbished and paired with more contemporary silhouettes, including low-slung upholstered tub chairs, a Saarinen tulip coffee table, and a Kevin Walz daybed, rendered in walnut and pewter-toned woven textile.
The original kitchen and dining room were unremarkable—a white box put in by the developers, which after ten years needed addressing. Custom cabinets and millwork were commissioned in cerused white oak, the perfect companion to the couple’s Wegner Wishbone chairs, Shaker-style cherry wood dining table, and their extensive collection of Asian ceramics.
A mural from Calico wallpapers anchors the main bedroom, its gold leaf echoed in the Prospect Heights Lamps by Dumais Made that sit on custom bleached-maple nightstands. The neutral warmth of the wallpaper’s ombre silk is further echoed in the room’s numerous textures.
