Residential Home
Windsor, a luxury residential community in southern Florida, is architecturally Anglo-Caribbean in spirit, and the community’s owners often pursue a range of traditional interior-design schemes. These clients, however, were the opposite of traditional.
The owners, a couple, who live in the house full-time, and entertain there often, embraced graphic statements and bold gestures in scale. This elevated modern aesthetic unfolds against a high-contrast palette of ivory and camel, with stark ebony accents.

Designed with entertaining in mind, the sizable great room features a mirrored setup of L-shaped sofas and matching coffee tables. The fireplace column is clad in black quartzite that allows a darkened television screen to recede from view.
The graphic palette of the living room can also be found in the kitchen, with its cerused white oak cabinets, ebonized black oak island, and white concrete floor. A floating bench upholstered in leather and linen paired with a marble Saarinen tulip table, adds softness to the otherwise austere space.
The client’s office is the only place that breaks from the rest of the house’s restrained palette. Here, we sourced a patterned wall-to-wall carpet a la David Hicks, clad the vaulted ceilings in cedar, and covered the walls in seagrass so that the room felt like a hug.
