Residential Boutique Condo

A semi-retired couple moved out of their traditional Brooklyn townhouse and into a landmark Richard Meier condo building overlooking Prospect Park.

The clients wanted a resurfacing of the 2,700-square-foot apartment, not to mention a totally new arrangement of the fine art and furniture they had collected over decades. A double-entrance layout allowed the remodeling to take place in two phases while the owners lived on site.

Many of the couple’s exceptional antiques made the move to this apartment, including a pair of horseshoe chairs and a Roman bench. These were paired with more contemporary shapes, such as xxx armchairs, a Saarinen tulip coffee table, and xxx, rendered in [fabric] and [materials], and complemented with artworks from xxx and xxx.

The original kitchen and dining room were unremarkable—a white box put in by the developers, which after ten years was looking tired. Custom cabinets and millwork were commissioned in cerused white oak, the perfect companion to the couple’s Wegner Wishbone chairs, mid-century Scandinavian xxx dining table, and their extensive collection of Asian ceramics.

A mural from Calico wallpapers anchors the main bedroom, its gold leaf echoed in the dipped xxxx Lamp by Dumais Made that sits on a xxx nightstand, and the neutral warmth of its hombre silk echoed in the room’s numerous textures.
